We have some solid book shelves from IKEA (not the Billy ones, these are more industrial looking) which are wearing well. Some IKEA kallax units which are very versatile.
We purchased our sideboard and TV unit from made, and they are beautiful. Very pricey though!
Our bedroom furniture was originally ordered from oak furniture land. But then there were supply issues. Ended up with some of the solid pine type furniture free from in laws, or cheap from fb marketplace, and have sanded and painted them myself. They work well and are so solid
Our table was also a fb marketplace bargain. Huge hand made hexagonal table with a central plinth rather than legs. It is simply gorgeous and was £100, I had been looking at similar new ones, they were £1800+. We were super lucky to get it, there was a lot of interest.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0 -
EssexHebridean said:We’ve had a set of IKEA Billy Bookcases in various configurations for the past 20 years - in fact, several for nearer to 25 now I think of it and those have been through a house move too - and they look as good now as the day we got them.As has been said, Billy Bookcases are an institution. We have some too (all of which moved house with us when we relocated to Cumbria).Another vote for IKEA from me and also (if you happen to have one in your vicinity, which sadly we no longer do) Homesense (they're the TK Max home interiors store). I also agree with checking out independent operators. We have several fantastic local vintage/second hand furniture/upcyclers (one of whom supplied our fab farmhouse kitchen table along with 6 vintage chairs at an extremely reasonable price).0
