There's hardly been any threads related to this. You can see the decision makers guide here. https://www.socialsecurity.gov.scot/guidance-resources/guidance/decision-making-guide

  • I applied last year and just received my award letter yesterday. There's been a bit of a backlog but claims are backdated to the day the application is triggered.

Did you have an assessment or was it a paper-based decision?

I understand it is paper based.

Mine was a paper based decision, they did contact my GP for further information - she was the one who diagnosed my fibromyalgia 4years ago. I found when I would call to see where my application was in terms of being looked at that the call handlers were always very friendly, don't be afraid to phone them if you need to ask them any questions, I found the best time for being answered quickly was 8am otherwise you can wait a long time.
I hope all goes well with your application 🙂

Good to know it's working as intended so far.  Alas not applicable to me personally but will be helpful for others who are applying.

@maiden_scotland can I ask when last year you applied? I applied at the beginning of March this year and when I called recently they couldn't tell me anything other than they have my application.

I've heard there's backlogs of several months. You could be in a for a long wait.

    They have been inundated.
Only consolation is that if awarded it will be backdated.
