The relevant bit appears to be that they think you'll use £4425 in the next year. 1/12th is £369 so the main thing to check is their forecast.

They want to take £399 a month which is about right as it is to pay for the next year and also recoup the £271 still owed, unfortunately that was based on estimated readings as they failed to email me to get me to read the meter. I've just submitted my readings and they're a little bit higher so my bill is going to go up more than that.

Be mindful of the likelihood of a 20% increase in April though lemming - you’ll need to factor that in as well when working out what you think you should be paying. Either ask for the  DD to be increased or save the extra yourself in an interest paying account so it is there when needed.

  • PPOV I am glad EDF disregarded the £400 government help and just refunded it after taking the normal DD. Mainly because the £400 was only going to be spread over so many months and then I’d need to revert to normally paying. Hopefully with EDF looking at my usage they will know the amount of DD needed going forward and not raise it even more due to the £400 that could have been connected my usage.  As it was, I had a refund besides the £400 amount, my DD must have been higher than needed before, so it is staying the same and will no doubt be raised in July.  Not such a shock for me now and who knows the prices might not rise as much in the next few months. Like Sue I am also an OAP so will be getting an SP 10.1% rise and still an extra £300 in Nov/Dec this year.

Pochase, my experience is not as you have advised leming66, with whom I have similar experience with my Bills.
In Dec 2022, EDF reduced the usage details by the refund amount, then added the refund as a debt to my account balance.
In March, they didn't reduce the usage (p3) by the refund amount. They recorded £226 refund in the detail (p2), included £44.07 in the summary(?) then added the refund to increase the debt on my account balance.
In July, again no reduction in usage by the refund amount but then added the refund to increase the debt on my account balance.
After >1 week on What'sApp and 46 minutes on the phone to an offshore complaints agent, I got absolutely nowhere.

Does anyone else have these issues with EDF and what do I do next?

This forum has a number of threads covering how EDF has managed EBSS payments. So far there hasn’t been a single case of EDF getting it wrong. I suggest that you do a forum search.

There would have been no payment due in July  - only Oct to March.  Perhaps this was a catchup payment. Have you had 6 x £66/67 payments into your bank ?

As  others have said the EDF info on its statements has generated many questions but when all 3 pages of their statements has been read in conjunction with the bank statements there is no issue.

PS I have asked MSE to split your thread away from the original -  that saves confusing replies.
