Thanks for the above post. So call the help desk, they already knew about the promotion failure.  They try to get through to the shop where I spent my money on Sat to print me the voucher but was unable to get through. So customer service lady kindly inform me that they will add 2000 points which is about £10 worth onto my card. So do give them a call.

I've just called the helpline who were able to confirm my £20+ purchase but, rather than adding points there & then, told me that they'd be added automatically within 28 days. No indication how many that would be so I'm assuming 50!

Just to confirm that MSE News is pushing the Sainsbury's press team for more information on this. So far it's only told us the following, but we will continue to press:

A Nectar spokesperson told us: "Unfortunately due to a technical error with our one-off Nectar promotion on Saturday, some qualifying customers weren’t able to claim their prizes. We apologise for the disappointment this will have caused and we are working to find a solution for our customers as soon as possible."

Hi all, just confirming that we've now had an update from Sainsbury's. It has promised to give shoppers who missed out on its in-store points promotion due to the "technical error" £5 in Nectar points. These will be credited to affected customers' accounts. More info in our MSE Nectar news story
