Got refunded by eBay following a dispute with seller

Ebay refunded me following a dispute with a seller for goods not as described. I did not lose any money I just wonder whether eBay will claim the money back from the seller. The seller was uncooperative and eBay had to step in. I was asked to return the item and return label was issued. EBay dealt with the issues promptly and was happy with the outcome.

You said you were asked to return the item and a return label was issued but not whether you returned the item. Why does it matter to you if ebay refunded the seller? You're making it sound kind of personal. You haven't said any of the history but just be aware that if ebay have given you the benefit of the doubt this time they may be less likely to in future. I've got no idea whether this may be the case or not because there is no detail in the post to go on.

EBay don’t use ‘benefit of doubt’ reasoning. If a seller refused a SNAD claim despite eBay saying they need to issue a return label or refund, then buyer will win- that is eBay t and cs. If OP is unlucky enough to meet another uncooperative seller then they would win the next case as well automatically.  However usually with a straight win where seller doesn’t engage at all the buyer doesn’t usually get sent a label to return, so it seems that seller probably did something, if only to accept the return.

OP , the seller would have had the funds for your refund taken direct from the seller .

Depends - sometimes they do, sometimes eBay fund it from their own pocket. Entirely depends upon the sellers account standing and the details on the return. For example, there have been times where I have had to refund a buyer, but upon receipt of goods, which were clearly used, after speaking to eBay they granted my appeal and returned the funds from the sale, so I was not left out of pocket either. In fact I had the item and the funds, while the buyer also had their refund. Entirely depends upon teh situation.

As long as you have returned the item and received your refund, the rest should not matter.

Good for you. I guess they value their reputation. They will definitely try to claim money from the seller. In general i find ebay customer service here to work pretty good and how quick they react on customers complaints just proves it.
