    just a quick update
    so I received the court order yesterday, the one setting the judgment aside
    to my surprise, the judge had reconsidered his decision after the hearing and decided that the claimant didn't serve the papers correctly, so as well as setting the judgment aside, he awarded me the costs for my set aside application. the claimant's solicitors have already paid me back  B)
    hopefully, that's the first step in getting this whole thing quashed, thanks guys for your help
    Very good!

    Sorry for the late reply, I've been in France for a football match.  Now catching up!

    Can you show us that Order?

    Do you now have 14 days to file & serve a defence and their WS stands as the POC?

    so I've just received this order in the post today, not sure what I'm supposed to do
    =====================
    It is ordered that
    1. Unless the defendant files at court and serves a directions questionnaire by 4pm on xx.xx.xxxxx the defence and any part 20 claim shall be struck out without further order

    That could be a clue!

    Thanks for the quick reply @Castle
    I assume I have to file form N180 Directions questionnaire (I assume I can email it like I did the other documents)

    here are the questions and my answers for them
    =====================================
    A1: Do you agree to this case being referred to the Small Claims Mediation Service? Yes
    B: my details
    C1: Do you agree that the small claims track is the appropriate track for this case? Yes
    D1: Do you consider that this claim is suitable for determination without a hearing? Not sure if I should answer Yes or No to this question
    E: do I need to answer the hearing questions if the answer to D1 is NO?
    E1: How many witnesses, including yourself, will give evidence on your behalf at the hearing? do I answer 1 to this.
    =====================================

    thanks in advance for your help

    I would answer as indicated above. They ask about witnesses so the size of the room can be determined.

    But all of this is already in the NEWBIES thread. Every question in the DQ is covered there.

    The only difference is we assume your LOCAL COURT sent you this (as this is post-set aside), so obviously you don't email it to Northampton! Not in your case as it's already being handled locally.

    What deadline is shown?

    thanks @Coupon-mad, I'll take another look at the NEWBIES thread
    the deadline is 17 Jan, even though I just received the letter today (it looks like it was sent on 2 Jan, and the order is dated 4 December)

    resurrecting this thread as the trial date is approaching, 17 January.
    it's been double booked so I'm not sure if it will be on that date
    and just to recap, I'm defending a parking charge for parking in a residential car park where I used to live, and had a permit but it was not displayed because the parking enforcers had just been changed and I was still showing the old permit
    anyway, I'll post my witness statement in the next comment, I would appreciate your input
    (btw, the original PCN was issued on 19 December 2018, so it's been longer than 6yrs. does that make it obsolete?)
