Jacking a car safely - Would sliding a car wheel under the car help in an emergency?
If you’re under the car there’s probably no need to have the wheels off, so I have a pair of ramps, drive in on to those. Using the spare wheel is fine too but if it goes under the car with the wheels on then it’s not going to do anything should the car fall with the wheels on.
If you’re doing something where you need the wheels off I put it on axle stands and leave the jack in place (trolly) and put the wheel under the car to catch it if it falls (never has).
A 2 ton axle stand will have to take at least 4 tons before it fails. Seen one tested somewhere and a 2 ton stand took almost 8 tons before it started to fail.

Unless not put under correctly or if the car moves ,if braked and in gear it should not again if the drive wheels are on the ground .
