Help. Is it possible to do Yorkshire puddings in a microwave (non-grill version) using cake cases? This year (long story) I haven't got access to an oven and hob so all the Christmas dinner is being done with joints in a slow cooker and the veggies in the microwave - a challenge - more like a nightmare! I have a George Foreman too but that ain't much use for this - too stripey lol - although it's been very useful for many things! I've posted this on the Old Style board too.

If you have a combi/microwave the one with the grill feature maybe it would work but otherwise its a NONO... you need dry heat to bake them and in the microwave its the liqued in the food that heats up... (so I have been told:rotfl: :rotfl: )
EDIT sorry just read your micro is non grill version....... I guess its a no no then...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

what about frozen yorkies in the microwave. I had 4 frozen yorkies to use up last night and when I served them realised they hadn't been heated all way thru, so put them in to microwave to finish off, they were ok, but they had been started in oven first. :cool:0

Thanks - I was thinking it might come to the fact I might have to (arrgh) BUY some for the first time in my life!!! But needs must - can't do without Yorkshires it won't be the same0 -
I make yorkies in the microwave successfully in shallow glass containers. I pre-heat to 220 which I think is max on mine, with lard or butter in the dish melting at the same time. When up to temp. add the mix and microwave on high for as many minutes as necessary depending on the size you are making. Have a practice before Christmas. You can add a sausage or two to the dish on pre-heat, cover with the mix and cook and get toad in the hole.0

Kinights your sounds like a combination oven - not what the OP has.
Buy frozen ones, defrost them and use the George Forman to heat them up - you could even use a blowtorch to give them some crispiness!
If you saw Ramsey the other week a restaurant were heating up frozen Yorkies in a steam oven - they looked incipid!0 -
Thanks daveyjp, I guess as I can pre-heat that makes it a combination does it?
I might know how to make yorkies but obviously know foxtrot alpha about microwaves !!!!

I've only had my Russell Hobbs combi for a couple of weeks, and thought I'd try a yorkshire pudding (I can cook nice ones in conventional oven).
It has not come out right though, and was like a mushroom when I took it out and seemed to be cooking too much on the top.
I preheated on convection to 190 degrees (max), used a pyrex dish, and placed the dish at the bottom of the oven not on a rack.
This was the result after about 13 mins.
Does anyone know where I went wrong?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
I`ve gone back to using the oven, microwave ones just didn`t work they were solid0

You MIGHT be able to heat up those ready-made 4 minute ones in the microwave, but they won't be crispy. I mean the ones that have been cooked already, not the frozen batter in little trays.0
