In any case, the cost of increased premiums can be claimed, but it's a hassle. You need to get quotes with and without the incident in writing. Don't use comparison sites, they might flag up getting quotes without the incident as fraud.
Difficult to get quotes for 2028 already... always paid out of the FO budget rather than a genuine head of claim
Who cares how they account for it, they owe you the money. I've had to claim it twice, in both cases I got quotes for the next year and then did 20% less per year until zero. They accepted that and it seems about right based on year 6 prices.

Just an update as I had my renewal through. They’ve reduced my NCD to 3 years so I’m waiting on a call back but I’ve been told it’s perfectly fine to not renew and wait for my NCD to be reinstated (literally 1 month) (insurance increased by £290 per annum) and I can do without a car (I’ll use the work vehicle) . I don’t need my vehicle checked for damages as I’m a fully qualified SVQ3 vehicle technician and I’ve already had the rear bumper and diffuser off and no damage is present and chassis is straight.

Thanks for all your help, I’ll just have to see what they say!

Remember that under the continuous insurance regs if the vehicle isnt SORNed it must be insured so you could not renew and use your other car but you'd need to be able to part it off the public highway and have the car tax implication of SORNing it
