CCTV and banks

Hi, how long do banks keep inside CCTV footage for? Say, there was a transaction dispute going back 5 months ago, would they have archived their CCTV footage and have access to it if requested due to the dispute & a complaint?

You're likely going to have to go into branch for that one. That's not info that's going to be made public for obvious reasons0

given that it's all on computer these days (maybe freeze frame every 2 seconds?) they may have the last year or more. I know that there's a thing about legal disputes that mean that absolutely no records should be deleted and I would assume that refers to CCTV as well as emails, account notes whatever. But they may not realise that a particular day's photos are crucial.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Aside from where they've been specifically asked to keep the footage by law enforcement, or have their own internal reason for doing so, most commercial CCTV is overwritten long before 5 months are reached. So unless you made them aware of the issue within the first 30 days, there's a good chance it will no longer exist. (But it does no harm to ask)

From what I have seen they are recorded onto a recording box with a looped hard drive inside of them. But some more surfisticated ones do have an eithernet connection so you can live steam it and watch it from homeBrie said:given that it's all on computer these days (maybe freeze frame every 2 seconds?) they may have the last year or more.
