Child trust fund - No record of my child!

My daughter is 19. I opened her CTF with Yorkshire Building Society. I had a pass book and used this to make occasional over the counter payments at our nearest branch.
The passbook has been mislaid after many house moves, incl overseas relocation twice, or possibly gone forever after the shipping & removal company lost most of our belongings. Recently been trying to access her CTF but YBS have no record of any account. Neither does One Family (who I believe are the parent of many providers for CTFs). Also HMRC is drawing a blank. Any ideas or suggestions please??
 Thank you

Did you transfer it to a junior ISA?

I opened her CTF with Yorkshire Building Society.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/child-trust-fund-vouchers/ is shown as updated yesterday and oddly enough, mentions both One Family and YBS.

For example, the top junior ISA rate is currently 3.8%, while One Family's CTF pays just 1.3%, Nationwide's CTF pays 3% and Yorkshire Building Society's CTF pays 3.05% – though always check what yours is paying before transferring.

In fact, the YBS CTF rate has improved to 3.55% for those under 18 while the  Matured CTF rate is shown between 2.8% and 2.9%.

Have you asked YBS to check matured CTF /dormant accounts?

Do you have any information about the account or perhaps a Child Benefit number?

Otherwise, are you sure that you opened the CTF with YBS?

In one town I knew, the Leeds/YBS/Skipton/Halifax branches were cheek by jowl.

Are you sure it was a CTF that you opened and not another type of account?

HMRC should be able to tell you where it was originally opened

If they can't you probably didn't open one and it could have been something else you opened

Is it possible the person may have simply been looking in the wrong 'register'?  At age 18 they may have automatically re-assigned it to a ISA, and a CTF/JISA will no longer exist?  Obviously I have no knowledge of the internal processes YBS etc use for maturing CTFs/JISAs, and this was just a thought.

There is no record of my daughter with YBS whatsoever, incl dormant/closed accounts.

This charity deals with helping young people to find their lost CTFs and there is no charge for the service : https://findctf.sharefound.org/

While it seems to be aimed at young people in care, the provision of a check box on the application form suggests that it's not an absolute requirement. They first do a check against the 'CTF Register' before approaching HMRC.

I've not used this charity so can't give any feedback on it personally, but it was mentioned in a thisismoney article on the subject so could be worth looking into and it doesn't sound like you'd have anything to lose ?

That article does imply that it's for children aged 16-18 but the charity's webpage doesn't suggest there is a maximum age limitation for making enquiries - the child just needs to have been born after 1st Sept 2002, which was when CTFs started.
