Out of the blue emails I send are not appearing in my sent folder. I have searched all the places I can think of and they are not there. It only affects emails sent from my Plusnet email address. I don't know what I have done because they were in the sent folder all along until yesterday. I'm using Thunderbird, as I have all along.
I logged in to Plusnet Webmail and, although it was very slow to 'load' both the inbox and sent folder, the 'missing' emails sent are in the sent folder in Webmail.
I received a reply from someone I sent an email to yesterday from my Plusnet email address , as normal, in Thunderbird - so it arrived all right. I have another email address (gmail) and emails I send from there are all in my gmail sent folder in Thunderbird as normal.
Does anyone know what I might have done to cause this to happen and how I can fix it, please?

I've just looked through my own Thunderbird settings to see if anything might explain your issue. Does your Plusnet address have its own setting in Accounts, and if so are the entries in Copies & Folders for When sending messages what you expect to see? Do you have any Message filters in place that might affect the outgoing messages from your Plusnet address? Are you on the release channel for Thunderbird, and if so have you updated to 102.7.0? (It's there to be updated from 102.6.1 on my computer but I haven't done it yet, so it's possible something in the new version might have caused a problem).1

Thanks for replying, SiliconChip. I'm sorry I don't understand much of this.
It was normal until this happened yesterday. I'll look at what you suggest and try to understand. I'll post again tomorrow, thank you.0 -
Click on the plusnet folder on the left of the screenRight ClickSelect 'settings'select the copies and folders optionMake sure the box is ticked 'when sending ... place a copy ....' etc1

Thank you both for replying. I wonder if I'm losing the plot. I didn't make any of this up. Since the 'change' yesterday, when the messages sent from my Plusnet email address in Thunderbird, did not arrive in the sent folder and I could not find them anywhere, I have 'touched' nothing.
This morning I sent three separate 'trial' emails from my gmail address in Thunderbird as well as three different 'trial' emails from my Plusnet email address in Thunderbird. Inexplicably, this morning all the sent emails are, as they used to before yesterday's 'blip', there in the sent folder.
I don't see anything different in the copies and folders option. Thunderbird version (again I have not touched it) is v102.6.1. I wouldn't know how to update but, in the circumstances, I am pleased to leave it alone as it seems to be 'back to normal' now.
I appreciate the time you both very kindly took to reply Maybe it was a gremlin yesterday but, so far, the problem seems to have sorted itself.
Thank you again for your replies.

Glad to hear it's back to normal now. From your description today I suspect there may have been a problem with the Plusnet SMTP servers yesterday that cause the copying back to your Sent mail folder to time out. I occasionally get this with my Fasthosts accounts although I would expect to see a message to say that the timeout had happened.

Thanks very much SiliconChip I didn't receive a time out message. I'm pleased that the problem's resolved because I was sure that I hadn't touched anything to cause the change myself.
I'm not good with technology and, when things work, I try to leave them well alone.0
