Sainsbury's Energy not charging me or sending bills

My fixed deal ran out in October and I received a letter in November saying they were transferring me onto the SVR tariff but since then, I've not had any bills or direct debits taken from my account, nor any of the government payments.

Under the "Tariffs" section on my account, it just has my address and no tariff details where they used to be. My account balance is £0 and the most recent transactions on my account are:

04 DEC 2022 - HM Government Discount Energy Bills Support Scheme - Reversal - -£66.00
16 NOV 2022 - HM Government Discount Energy Bills Support Scheme - +£66.00 CR

Just wondering if anyone else has had this and if it's just taken them a few months to sort everything out? I've tried calling but they never answer and have sent an email to their "hi@sainsburysenergy.com" address but have not had any reply.

Their 'contact us' page suggests they can be reached between 8 and 10pm. Failing that, their postal address might be worth a try for some answers

If it was me I'd just submit monthly readings and keep track of how much you need to keep ready if or when their billing catches up. I wouldn't be rushing to pay them before they ask.

Sainsbury's appear to be going through a phase in terms of billing,

I've been with them almost 18 months.  Email asking for readings readings submitted, bill produced.  Nice and simple.

For some reason the last two months I have gone through this process, but when looking at the bills they are also producing an estimated reading for the time between my bill being generated and the end of the month, so a 5-6 day estimate.

The only explanation I can think its an internal accounting process to tie in with the government subisdy payments into the company.

As above if I wasn't receiving bills I'd continue to submit readings and maintain a spreadsheet to track readings and costs.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • I'm experiencing the same thing at the moment. At the end of August I agreed to go onto the 1 Year Smooth Renew v20 tarrif and got an email confirming it would begin on 07 October. I then got a letter (actually from Eon Next) confirming I'd be on SVR whilst it was lower than the fixed tarrif.

The bills started going wonky in mid-October, I got a couple of "customer service gestures" and then a final balance settlement. I then got a +£66 Gov support scheme payment, and then the -£66 reversal.

My balance is on zero and I'm just continuing to provide monthly readings and putting what I think I'll owe in a savings account.

Would be interested to know if you get anywhere contacting them on Twitter or Facebook! 🤞
