Home buyer survey

I accepted an offer on my house sale last weeek. The sales memorandum came through this week. I have been told that the buyer have booked their homebuyer survey on 8 March.
This seems to be a very long time away. Should I be worried? Normally the surveyor comes round in a couple of weeks from acceptance.

Well it certainly doesn't sound as if your buyer is in a rush.1

does worry me why they are delaying the survey to 6 weeks as they are obviously waiting for something. my worry is that they may pull out and i have lost time marketing.MEM62 said:Well it certainly doesn't sound as if your buyer is in a rush.
it doesn't take 6 weeks to get the surveyor round does it? they are buying the property with bridging finance so may be they are waiting for the bridging finance to be approved before they start to incur costs. but bridging finance is supposed to be approved quickly.
i have gone back to the EA to ask for confirmation that they got the date right and if this is the case, i am going to ask what is the reason for the delay.0 -
update - never mind. the EA got the date wrong. it is 8 Feb, doh.4

That sounds about right. There are different types of surveys on the house. If they want to buy a house to let - they might arrange gas and electrics survey . A mortgage survey checks the overall value of the building. Just a process to see what costs they need to bring it up to "current standard".
