Any experience of Defamation?

My only experience of defamation is that every nutter on the internet likes to threaten people with it. I've never actually seen anyone (outside of celebrities etc) claim to be defamed who actually has been defamed let alone won a court case for defamation.

Unless you have a reputation of some value to protect you are going to struggle to show that you suffered serious harm as a result of defamation (even if you can show you have been defamed) - as a rule of thumb if you are wondering whether the cost of a defamation suit is worth it then it probably isn't.
