Has anyone had completion regrets?
The house i've bought for 325k has single pane windows and terrible broadband. ADSL only / No virgin.
3 houses emailed to me in a better location (near my kids schools) are same / lower pricing which are bigger and double glazing.
Feel like this is a terrible move!

I think most people get the post move blues shortly after moving into a new home, especially if it has been a big expensive move.
Take yourself off the mailing lists now. You don't need them.
Focus on the positives of your new home and the reasons that you bought it and spend time making your new house your home.3 -
If you regret is due to things that are difficult to change, location, parking, neighbours, etc it is very understandable, however over time you can get used to these things.
However Windows, broadband should be relatively easy issues to address, so dont get too down.2 -
Well, whatever, there's not much you can do about it now - or well, there is, you can wait 6 months and put it back on the market but will of course have the costs of moving again of course but if it makes you happy then it's probably worth it.The windows and broadband can surely be 'fixed' although if the windows are original sash type it might be better to keep them? Double glazing doesn't last forever so some of those others may have needed repair/replacement as well.0

That is a valid point.
Thank you for all your replies.0 -
Well you could have bought one of the double glazed other houses cheaper, then found out the neighbours were horrible, or had a survey done and find out the roof is about to fall in. Without a crystal ball we can never know if the house we bought is the best possible, but yuo obviously liked it enough when you decided to buy, so concentrate on those things that made you love it in the first place.
Double glazing isn't that expensive, and you dont need to do the whole house at once, and they are rolling out full fibre broadband to most places now

Try to backtrack to remind yourself why you wanted the house in the first place, the things that made it appeal to you - maybe a great garden for the kids to play in when they visit? Or a quirky layout that you really like? The windows can be replaced if needed - but for now you can make a bit of a difference by making sure that any draughts etc are plugged. also keep your eye on charity shops for heavy lined curtains and make sure all windows have those - failing that then buy heap fleece blankets and pin them inside your existing curtains.Have you checked to see if any broadband providers can offer you a decent connection? It might not be a pan area virgin cover but there are plenty of others out there - we’re with a Vodafone and have been really pleased with them, for a start. the other properties are lower in price and seems better. is that because the market has dropped and they are recent for sale properties or were they available when you offered on your house?
so why did you buy your house? think back to the reasons why you bought it.
i have a few properties and yes, often i feel dissapointed when i complete as there are problems that i had not anticipated or the property is not as good as i remembered it when i made the offer!! but you soon get used to it and it all works out in the end.
single glazed windows, get them replaced. you would have known this already when you bought the property, so no surprises there. poor broadband, may be a problem that can be sorted out with options. no virgin is not a bad thing!! in our previous home we could not get virgin but sky is available to all homes as far as i am aware. our current home has the option of virgin but we haven't taken them up as they are pretty poor.0 -
Is the broadband because there is a waitlist for fttc because the cabinet is full, or because it just isn't available full stop? I can't get virgin and could only get really poor ADSL speeds when I first moved in as there was a wait list for the cabinet. Kept checking and got fttc within a month.
What's the 4g / 5g like? As that's also another option0 -

We therefore run our entire house on a 4g dongle in our router.
Pretty reliable and happy with the speed.0 -
As above, unsubscribe from the lists, stop looking on Rightmove and enjoy your new home.Internet is easily sorted, windows aren’t the be all and end all - very fixable albeit at a cost.I’m very much of the opinion the blues or Bullseye type “let’s have a look at what you could have bought” scenarios will always happen. When you buy a car you could be looking for a certain car in a certain colour but can’t find one, the day you pick up something similar you can guarantee the perfect car will be added to autotrader.Honestly just move on and be happy
We’ve luckily had no blues but I’ve also only probably glanced at Rightmove once in the last 6 weeks post completion.0
