Our garage door has a wooden threshold which seems to keep water out, it seems to be failing so looking to replace it. I presume this is a fairly basic DIY job?

Is it a case of getting a piece of wood and screwing it into the concrete?

just done a google and seem some rubber strips that you stick down - has anyone had experience with any of these?

Photo of how it is at the moment, the wood is rotting and we've put some strips up against it for now but when it's windy and rainy we get water ingress

Pretty much as you describe. You can use rubber strips, but if you get good pressure treated woods, and treat it on all sides before putting it down, then it should last. I would also use some silicone sealant around the wood at the base if that area is prone to getting wet
  • We have a rubber threshold strip that works well. The door closes against it and it keeps the vast majority of water and debris out. It was easy to install with a sharp knife and the tube of sticky stuff provided.

I'd try to improvise something with tiles, possibly with a slope towards the drain.

Any wood embedded in concrete will rot in time, in the situation above I would just get wood hardener and paint on.
If you do decide to replace could you create concrete replacement in space where old wood is removed.
