Fake Royal Mail stamps on Amazon?

Eighth Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker
Several weeks ago I purchased a book of 1st class Royal mail stamps (the 'old' non-bar coded type) which were slightly cheaper then the 'genuine' stamps, from Amazon. I received them promptly and sent them  to the Royal Mail on their 'swap-out' system. Three weeks later I received a letter from Royal Mail stating that the stamps were counterfeit / used. Does Amazon have any responsibilty. since the money (credit card)  was made to Amazon? Obviously the seller is not responding and has disappeared from the Amazon site.

  • I just g--gled it for you and it said this in Amazon's terms: "Please keep in mind that Third Party Seller listings are merely hosted on Amazon.co.uk and are posted solely at the direction of Third Party Sellers who may be contacted via their Seller Information page, accessible from any of their listings."

Please contact amazon via your orders page, the order relevant to your purchase.

Tell them what's happened and ask for a refund.

Two things need to happen -

    1. You need your money back
    2. The seller's scam needs reporting and they need to be stopped. Amazon will have their details. Hopefully.

But first thing, ask for your refund for fraudulent goods.

That's fair enough - but not if the seller is a crook selling fraudulent/scam items. They need reporting to Amazon - who will hopefully take further action.

With a legitimate third party amazon seller you can still get a refund. I've just done that very thing this morning.

  • Fortunately I took a photo of the stamps with the swap-out form and sending that to Amazon, together with the Royal Mail letter today.
