Passport expires in March, no immediate plans to travel so thought I’d renew it now, in light of some of the horror stories you hear. Sent it off last Tuesday, couple of emails detailing progress, text this morning saying it will be delivered today 👍
So well done PO

Probably a good time of year to do it. Did you do it on line and supplied your own photo ( not from a booth )?

On line application, used a photo-booth. Lost a couple of months by renewing a bit early but come 2033 I’ll be 77 so not likely to be such a problem

I emailed the Passport Office a couple of weeks ago as i am thinking of getting a new passport and my last one expired 30 years ago.  I thought it would be a while before I heard as, according to the website, they are very busy and I was pleasantly surprised to get a response the following morning.  :)

Yes, I recently had a similar query - I emailed them but then, as I needed to know the answer quickly. called them shortly afterwards. I got the usual - press 1 for.... press 1 for ......' menu system, but having negotiated that got straight through to a person who could answer my query. And got a response to my e-mail the following morning too.

I renewed my passport, got it today, after less than two weeks.
Then I got a strange text about a change of email. I thought it was a scam at first.
