You're reminding me of a local issue in the next village to us - local pub has a limited car park and no on-street parking so pharmacy visitors have chosen to start taking the proverbial and filling their car park. Pub bring in parking operator and make it clear on social media/in local area that anyone buying a drink is welcome to park and register their vehicle but pharmacy visitors still choose to 'hover' and block the car park (despite Doctors surgery car park only 20mtrs further away that owns the (off-site) pharmacy)

Pub landlord gets abuse from non-customers so he asks parking company to double down efforts on this abusing his generosity

@Down_On_My_Luck_2023 if it's the same place then good luck - I believe the landlord is up for the fight and they haven't lost a case on the site yet

Worrying.  Sounds like you are very much on the side of the parking operation?  We aren't.

How do you know they "haven't lost a case" yet?  Lost a case where...on appeal? In court?

Almost unheard of that cases like this are won in court.  Appeals are a farce.

Which parking firm is saying they are "winning" all these cases?

As you are familiar with the place, please show us these very clear signs or tell us where this is please so we can check it out on Google StreetView.

What a joker the landlord is ...... I would place him high on the bankrupcy list within a year or less for employing a parking scammer

Yup, when his genuine customers start getting hit and his staff start saying there is nothing they can (be bothered) to do about it

My post was based on the slim chance that the location was the same for the OP - if not it's no relevance but seeing as you've raised it what should a publican do whose regular business is blighted/restricted by people taking advantage of the adjacency of his property to the pharmacy to park on his property and block access to genuine customers ?

Is it genuinely the case that all PPCs in all circumstances are bad ?

    Yes

I used to own an office with a car park near a town centre. I had problems from time to time with those who thought they could just park up and walk to the shops, but managed to handle it without too much drama.

The best parking spot, right by the back door to the office was “mine”, although technically they were all mine. I did one day find a car in it, so I parked right behind it. A Karen appeared and kicked off, “I finish about 7pm tonight, I’ll be gone then” I told her in front of a client and a few others and wandered back inside.

The funniest was actually a client taking advantage one day, not visiting me. As he was getting out of his car he noticed a mother herding 3 young children into another car and asked “Is Mouse in?” “I have no idea” she replied. To which he responded “Oh, you’re taking advantage of the free parking too then?” upon which the mother turned around and said “No, I’m Mrs Mouse”.

“I thought that was an appropriate moment to introduce myself” my client later told me during his confession.

    Yup, I'm sure she wasn't a Kevin.

    Yes.

    Typical outcomes:

The publican should see these people as potential customers, and put up some extra signs and offers (flyers on windscreens even) inviting them in.

Not alienate them, the staff and the customers with a ridiculous regime of £100 penalties.

That's a sure fire way for the pub to lose business and reputation locally.  So many businesses have found this out the hard way.

And the parking firm hasn't "won every case".  That did make me laugh.  Someone is telling porkies.
