no gas reading increase for 6 months plus error

Hoping someone can advise on what I should do as I have been in touch with Octopus about my gas bills as I have just realised that the meter reading has not changed on the meter since I went over to this Octopus package back in Jun 22.  I keep telling them but they keep advising 'don't worry if your home display is incorrect, we take the readings from your meter' 
Does anyone know what would need to be done to get a correct reading from my meter????
I thought my bills were high enough before realising that i have not been getting charged correctly for my gas.

Any advice is appreciated

    you say "the meter reading has not changed on the meter", are you talking about the IHD or the actual gas meter?
    What does it say on your bills/statements, are they estimated?

    the actual gas meter ,  i will check a bill just now as I think only being charged a standing charge and no usage

    can confirm 0.199 m3 for january 2023   online information
    smart meter reading not changing month to month so only standing charges

    If you are only being charged the s/c, and no usage, why do you think 'your bills are high'? It should be quite the opposite.
    Can you post the last two actual readings, from Jan 2023, and the previous one on the bill? Are they the same?
    It's quite possible for the display to fail, but the meter can still record and send data for billing.
    Forget what the IHD says, it's not a reliable source, and it isn't what you are billed on. It's just a freebie gimmick that sometimes works and often doesn't.

    a misunderstanding .....I had thought the bill was high enough just due to the current dd value and general increased bills and that probably made me not notice the missing gas usage
    the meter reading is exactly the same from June last year to today - the actual meter not the IHD.
    How do you stand if you have been using gas but your meter is not registering your usage????  Can they access the correct usage??

    It's possible that the display is faulty/frozen, but it'll still send data to the DCC and you'll be billed correctly. Which is why I asked if the billing reads are the same  6 months apart or not, not your meter reads.
    Either way, you should report it to Octopus as a faulty meter and ask them to repair/replace it. 
    Make sure that they understand that you are referring to the actual meter, not the IHD. If the IHD fails to work after 12m, it's down to you, it's no longer under warranty. If so, you can use the Bright app instead.

    we are definitely not being billed correctly - bills state no change of the gas meter reading over the months June to now and we are being charged only a standing charge.
    Thanks for the input, I will contact Octopus again about the meter being faulty.
