This is a well-known scam. Be ultra careful!
What's the scam element of it though?
  • Transactions for items where “The buyer arranged their own delivery method, such as a courier pickup” are specifically excluded from the Money Back Guarantee for both INR & SNAD, the issue is getting eBay to follow their policy on this aspect.

Personally it’s not something I would consider due to the potential headache.

I've had a couple of items recently where buyers sent a courier.  I work from home, so I'm happy to be flexible - although the second one turned up really early when I was in the middle of a meeting.  If you go ahead, I would mention the QR code to the buyer as a condition of releasing the item.  You just type it into the app when you hand over the item. Here's the web page I referred to on Ebay:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/postage-delivery/changing-delivery-address-method/collection-person?id=4056#:~:text=After%20you've%20completed%20your,when%20you%20collect%20your%20item.

"After you’ve completed your purchase, we’ll send an email with a collection code (a QR code and a 6 digit code) to your Messages. You can either print off your email or show the seller the message on the app when you collect your item. The seller will scan or enter the code on the eBay app to confirm you’ve collected your item.

    Tip
Items collected in person are still covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee if paid for with PayPal, however eBay Money Back Guarantee does not cover cash on collection transactions, or transactions where the item was not collected by the buyer."

I would still prefer cash on collection, but its worked well on the two occasions I've accepted courier collection.  Both used Shiply to book a courier, and I've even used Shiply myself since.  I've also stored the name of the courier I used (HES Logistics) as they were so professional.

ps it has to be the buyer arranging the courier, if the seller arranges it then they accept the risk of damage in transit etc.
