Un recognised debit by Amazon or any other

Options
I'm wondering if this has cropped up with anyone else and what the outcome was

Last July I made an online purchase on Amazon.co.uk with my credit card

I wasn't in the habit of checking statements except for large amounts

In November I notice on my credit card a pending debit from Amazon so I checked my statements as I knew I hadn't bough anything

I checked July August September and November, on each statement was a debit for Amazon prime I knew I didn't have,, strangely at the time they were for varying £12 odd debits.  I checked this out with Amazon and they didn't recognise the payment reference numbers so I contacted the card issuer Halifax

Their fraud department investigate and said the payments had been made on Amazon.com the US branch. Halifax reimbursed me the full amount and blocked the card sending me a new one. I didn't then make a purchase that year.

Roll on to January 2023 and I bought something on the 6th and about the 10th checked my statement as I do now and low and behold £12 odd debit on the 7th by Amazon prime

I contacted Halifax who refunded me, blocked the card and sent another in post which I now have, the problem I have now how can I buy with confidence from Amazon ?

Yesterday I decided to make contact with them on chat, explained the situation and Amazon escalated it and I'm waiting for a reply

One thing I will point out. I am not looking for compensation for this just a method to be able to use My credit card online

Has anyone been through this before

Thank you for looking

Halifax need to update the (Visa/Mastercard) updater system. Which should be part of their fraud process anyway with these type of payments.

As that allows retailers to request the new card details from visa/mastercard. Putting a stop on that will stop Amazon from getting the new card details.

But just make sure you are on Amazon UK & not .com site & that any purchase is from UK site & not US site.
