Extractor fan lights - lesson learnt, don't leave them on too long

I bought this bungalow last year, and the seller left me the brochure for the extractor fan, apparently installed in 2016.
It's a CDA Group ECH 61/2SS. The lights went after six months, and the brochure said to replace with 50W maximum halogen 2 pin GU10. When I replaced the bulbs they didn't work. I tried LED's too and they didn't work either.
I've just had an electrician here to do other jobs and he had a look - he said it is common for the lamp holders to distort if the lights are left on too long. Unfortunately I definitely left them on regularly when I'd finished cooking.
Unfortunately I've now got to buy a new extractor fan as I can't get replacement holders.

I've never heard of GU10 holders distorting due to being left on, they are ceramic and metal, normally up to the task?
the likelyhood of you finding replacement lamp holders with the same fixing dimensions are quite slim in my opinion, I would just fit one of these instead of the Gu10's https://www.internet-electrical.co.uk/lighting-fittings/led-fluorescent-link-lights/ansell-lighting-matrix-led-cct-link-lights/ansell-lighting-amaled50-cct-matrix-white-led-cct-link-light-with-colour-selectrable-leds-fixed-opal-diffuser-fixings-15m-mains-lead-ip20-7w?gclid=Cj0KCQiAlKmeBhCkARIsAHy7WVsDg0vTH7xY1Y35yyAM9Mi1dK3a7K97Ny6GtLl1WzPAV23QNSGWATcaAmgPEALw_wcB
thats assuming it's the lampholders, it could easily have been the switch thats failed0 -
The overriding lesson is to replace all halogen bulbs with LEDs ASAP. It's a pointless waste of energy, which is becoming very expensive.0

You can possibly fix it externally somehow, but not replace
