Contesting estimated bill with Shell Enerfy

Hey up, I posted a while back to get some information on an estimated bill after my gas meter broke - between 30th September and 6th December we had no valid reading and I believe shell have grossly overestimated our usage. I also have an email stating our meter would still be recording our usage, and on attendance the engineer said it was totally dead.

They’re currently claiming their estimated bill is calculated based on October’s readings but of course there are no readings. I’m still waiting for clarification on whether they’ve used last year’s readings - they’ve asked me to record a week’s daily usage and submit it but I’ve said no because it’s -4c outside compared to October’s 11c average.

I’ve asked for the estimated gas bill to be halved or to allow me to take readings in late March/April when the temperature is appropriate.

just wondering if anybody has any advice for contesting the bill, what works successfully? We genuinely barely used it until mid November and they’ve hit us with a huge bill.

Were you in the same premises in October 2021?

Yeah, same property but lots of efficiency added measures added in the last year (rebuilt kitchen etc.)
