It is sad that a family member wrongly paid a scam to make it go away.  Please don't let them be fooled like that again! There was no court to avoid.

I am very glad they got a refund by the skin of their teeth, but please don't let them pay scams.

Sigh... Another prime example of how to become a 1 percenter or a 99 percenter. What would be more interesting is hearing about how, after talking to and paying one of the bottom-dwelling debt collectors, they got BM to get the PCN cancelled AND get whatever payment they made to the debt collector refunded.

Seems implausible to me, especially if they got everything they paid returned.  :/

Sorry if it seems implausible & I'm a prime example  but that's simply what happened. I've never had one of these before so you only know if you know!  I filed a dispute with the company using the template & contacted B&M. After I received this I had a phone call to say a full refund would be given & it was, though it took a couple of weeks to come through.

Consider yourself very lucky. All's well that ends well I suppose. Kudos to B&M for doing the right thing.

Not foolish but perhaps naive. I received a "Letter before claim" . When I rang they said it was too late to do anything apart from appoint a solicitor as it was already going through the court. People are harassed, bullied & threatened which is difficult to ignore.

But you knew from the NEWBIES thread that you could have responded with one template email, to extend the 30 days by a further 30 days.

You are also told in the NEWBIES thread never to ring these lying companies!  We are struggling to understand why you took the bait and phoned scammers (and believed what they told you, and didn't check back with us) when the advice thread tells you never to ring these cretins.

The NEWBIES thread also tells you that no-one needs a solicitor to successfully fight a parking charge.  Yes, even in court (and you were not at court stage).

All you needed to know was here, that's why we are saddened that your family was duped and were so very taken in by the lies, that they paid a scam because they wrongly thought you needed to appoint a solicitor and that there was no way to stop a court claim.

PLEASE don't let your family fall for this rubbish again.
