Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. It's not as cold here, not as frosty as previous mornings..Topsy, I was sorry to read about your son's accident, it sounds bad, I do hope he'll be ok.Our decorating seems to have slowed right down, all the paintwork is done, but we need to go to a DIY store to buy paint for the walls and ceiling. We'll go this morning. We were out yesterday taking shopping to a friend, and stayed chatting for a while, she can't go out on her own now, but is always cheerful.Rosy, hope your DH doesn't have to wait too long to get his work van repaired, what an inconvenience.Thinking of our poorlies, I think NMLC must have joined them, she hasn't posted for a while.Take care today folks, stay warm.10

My iPad is almost too cold to hold, outside it's -3° even though the forecast suggested a milder night and day.The drive up to Oban was interesting for the first 10 miles, a small layer of snow followed by some slush and then clear roads. On the way back everything was clear again. All the hills looked like the rock cakes from my school days. I didn't buy much and still managed to forget eggs. That'll be a wee trip out today. My car is full of stuff to go to the tip, there's a large bag of recycling material which can't stay here any longer. After that, who knows? There's a lot of bits piled up in the bedroom as I continue my journey through the miscellany in the drawers.DP1 - your crying echoed mine! I think that smells are more memory stirring than anything. My DM wore Chanel No. 5 when I was very young and the moved onto Rive Gauche in the '70s. If I get a whiff I'm right back there.Topsy - I hope that your son is mending and not disheartened by being in hospital, they're not great places. Your week off with him will have done you both good.Rosy - what a nightmare for your OH.My thoughts to all, I hope that this thread isn't fading away. Happy Friday to all.12

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Yes where is @nmlc? Hope she's okay x
So sorry to hear about your son @topsyturphy - sounds terrible. I hope he's doing okay xx
@RosyRed so annoying about DH's van - hope it's back on the road really soon xx
Hope you're feeling brighter today @bellabella
The hidden-bean pasta sauce worked well last night and I froze half for another day. I also got 4 x small WM Warb's loaves from Olio, so they are in the freezer too.
Will wash DS2s McDs uniform today ready for when he's back at Easter and (hopefully) picks up more shifts. It's a good pay rate and a social place to work as they all seem young and keen! I have been bay of E'ing various items over the last few weeks and have some more listings to put up today. All proceeds are going to my JoGLE fund for MH charities in memory of my nephew. Every little helps.
Dinner tonight is prawn and chilli spaghetti. It's another SW recipe and very tasty. It's FC tomorrow, and I feel like I've nailed it this week! Fingers crossed.
Hugs going out to our poorlies and those struggling. Please check in soon missing people x

Morning all,not been out yet but the dog water bowl outside isn't frozen so perhaps it's starting to thaw. Thanks for the best wishes for DH van. They still haven't found anywhere for it to be assessed yet, but he picks up a hire one this afternoon. The most important thing is the driver wasn't hurt.I have a Oc delivery in a bit, then I hope to return a top I bought at M&S,as I don't know when they'll be shutting their doors in town, and return some library books. It might be busy apparently the King & Queen consort are visiting the town today. DGD was very excited as she's been chosen to go with school. Not sure what's for tea- I'll see what I orderedTopsy hope DS is healing after his nasty accident.I hope the thread doesn't wither away too Gers, it's been going a long time. MIA and lurkers come back.Hope Nmlc is ok , and the rest of the poorly people. Have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
Just a quickie as I'm off to work in 10 minutes - just finishing breakfast.
On Wednesday it was a year since I had Covid - still shattered with lots of aches and pains. I know I could be worse though.
It's meant to be milder here today. Yesterday lunchtime it started to snow - the children were cheering - but thankfully it soon stopped.
Rosy red - hope the van is sorted quickly
Better move. Hope everyone has a good day x13 -
Morning all its chilly and there is frost on the cars but we dont seem to be in minus figures . Thankfully i feel a bit better today i had a banana for lunch and one for dinner yesterday and i may extend that into today adding a small piece of madeira cake into the mix . DD2 DGS and the dog are coming today for the weekend as its DH birthday on Sunday and we are going for lunch the place i wanted to book wouldn't accept children under 7 i do understand so we are going to the local pub instead. Dinner tonight ham egg and chips
DP1 its awful how covid has had long term effects i hope you are getting some help
Rosy Red Hope you can find somewhere to get the van sorted quickly what a pain
Topsy are you ok what a shock i dread every time DS goes out on his motorbike all the potholes are a terrible danger without the added ice and standing water . Hope he recovers soon x
Right better put some washing on and set up the travel cot as well as the toy corner
Have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe dry and warm xx

Morning from icy mehefinland
you know its cold when the water buckets freeze in the stables. Its a northerly wind wot does it guv.
breaking ice on water tanks at 7.15 this morning was challenging. Ground is a bit "mid bleak winter" ish.earth hard as iron, water like a stone.
I am getting my appetite back at last so will try to get some weight back on. Feel SO much better.
Vampires had more blood this week so will have a phone call from consultant in early Feb . He sent the vials for the bloods with the appointment letter which amused me. Lovely fella though and very 'straight' if you know what I mean.
Hugs and spoons as always.
Nelski think you need an infusion of Soreen!!

Morning folks and thanks GERS. We are - 1 with a layer of frost on top of the snow layers. I feel it's going to be with us forever! There are snippets of blue sky emerging and sun is forecast but unfortunately at this time of year, until the sun gets higher in the sky, it never gets round the front and that's where the snow is still lying.
Glad you are on the mend at last MEHEFIN. Ive never known as many poorlies on here as this year. ROSY good to hear your DH will soon be back on the road and working. TOPSY I hope it's onwards and upwards soon for your DS. Worrying about the MIA as usual. Hope we have a reunion soon with everybody back to posting! NELS I hope the poorly hands soon heal when (if!) the warmer weather arrives. RUBY slowly slowly, don't try too much too soon.
It's the usual Friday Tidy here with a dust and vac up and down. Such excitement I don't know how I cope! Nothing else in store.
Have a good day folks if you can ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and MIA. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
