Thames Clipper - so confused!!

Hi all,

Can anyone help with booking the Thames Clipper please?!

I am looking to book the Thames Clipper for Sunday 22 Jan 23. We are travelling from Millbank to North Greenwich (O2) and return. It says £34 70 total, but a roaming pass is £37.80 - so we thought get that and we can jump on and off and see other areas.

However, when i go to book it says, "Daily Hop On/Off River Roamers are not valid for use on the River Bus Express for events at the O2. West Zone piers are only serviced on weekday mornings and evenings".

Does this mean the boat will not be going to/from Millbank on Sunday?!

Ta.

I haven't been on the clippers for a few years now, but looking at the route map, Millbank is in the Central Zone and North Greenwich is in the East Zone, so the comment about West Zone piers seems to be irrelevant to your particular journey (but I imagine they need to make it clear if you are buying a roamer ticket for a weekend that not all possible piers are accessible that day).
I wasn't aware of the River Bus Express services, but from what it says here they only appear to run after certain events, and there are none mentioned on 22nd January - I imagine they would be in addition to the regular service .
but as I say, I've not been on the service for a few years, so don't take my thoughts as necessarily 100% gospel....

The express service is an additional limited-stop service on event days. As long as you get the normal stopping service from the o2 its fine.
Timetable for the normal services is here Weekend Westbound Timetable - Uber Boat by Thames Clippers
Last boat on a normal ticket from the O2 is 2130.

The O2 post-show is 15 minutes after the show and regular tickets can't be used.

That 2130 boat doesn’t go to Millbank - looks like the last boat to arrive there is 2012. And not sure on the prices you’ve been quoted, seem a lot, unless that’s for the entire party rather than pp? Oyster cards would perhaps be better?
Not knowing what times you plan on travelling, may be best for you to use the TFL route planner

Those prices are for the group, its £17.20 per adult for a return and £18.90 per adult for the day rover.
If using contactless the price is the same for single journeys, but there is no option for the day rover, so if they will use the boat more than twice then better to get the rover. Unless they need the special O2 post-show services.

I would trust Thames Clippers own site over TfLs for the Thames Clippers services. Go to TfL for TfL services.

Clipper was great - deffo recommend the back seat, we tried very front - bleurgh! Very choppy. And the only place you can open air is the back - no idea why they won't let you out the front.

The Clipper was easy and very convenient - we got the hopper pass, went up to the O2, then on the way back saw the Cutty Sark and Greenwich, Canary Wharf, Buck Palace, Westminster Abbey etc and it was great sailing past the London Eye and under Tower Bridge.

Highlights were Maggie Jones's restaurant, Sky Garden and seeing Wicked.

    Thanks all :)

Glad you enjoyed it. The Clipper is a great lazy way to do a bit of sightseeing, epsecially if the weather's bad. In the past we've spent pretty much a whole day on them - if you have a River roamer ticket,. the staff will usually just let you stay sitting on them while it turns round at the O2. If and when we next come down we'll probably do it again, as it looks as if the route has been extended (you used to have to get a special 'Tate to Tate' boat to get as far East as Millbank).
Shame that you don't seem to be able to get the 2-4-1 tickets any more, which makes it more expensive though.
