Hyundai Tucson Exploding Panoramic Sunroof - Open Letter to DVSA
Warranty, surely. They can't prove something it hit, witnesses say nothing hit it, and it's not unknown to happen due to manufacturing defects.
No, you'd need to prove on the basis of probability that it was a manufacturing defect rather than a case of damage if the manufacturer told you to see you in court,
Which will be extremely difficult to do on the basis that what was the sunroof would need to be presented to the court in a dustpan. As an aside, impact damage on glass doesn't always manifest itself immediately. There are plenty of cases of glass being struck and damaged in some minor and unnoticeable fashion and then shattering days or even weeks later when the actions of temperature change or movement cause the damaged, thus weakened, area to fail. I'm not suggesting that happened in the OP's case, but it is a possibility.
