Moving from Electic to Gas & Electric

Hi - wondering if anyone could help with the below:
I'm moving from renting a property that is electicity only to buying one that has both gas and electricity.
My electricity tarrif is a 2 year fixed with Octopus that I want to keep, so I have informed them of the move and that I want to carry it over.
However I'm not sure what to do about gas - the only offers I can seem to find are dual fuel rather than gas only. I don't want dual fuel as I really want to keep the old electricity rate I have that is far cheaper than the current market.
Scottish Power provides both gas and electric in the new place but I've had a hard time getting through to them on the phone
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

As far as I know, the tariff usually belongs with the property, not the owner, so you are unlikely to be able to "move" your tariff.
In any case, you will need to contact the company who is already supplying the house you buy. The details should be on the paperwork you receive from your solicitor. You need to give this company your details and the opening meter reads and after that you are free to switch to a different supplier.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

When you move, you need to first give the closing meter reading where you are now to your old supplier. When we you arrive at the new property, take meter readings there and give them to your new supplier who is the current supplier to the new property - you have to sign up with them before you can instigate any switch back to your current supplier. Your current supplier may allow you to restart your old tariff once you switch to them, but most don't, and regardless, you need to follow the process above anyway.
The good news is that if Octopus are happy to supply you on your current fix, then when you swap to them you will be able to use them for both fuels - they will be a similar price to SP for the gas.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
