Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, I would imagine you're getting your coffee.
Cold and frosty again this morning but the sun is due to shine all day, hope it doesn't let us down! Yesterday was a bit milder but mostly sunny.
Great to hear from you Ruby, hope you continue to rest and recover.
Sounds like the decorating will be finished in no time Nanny.
Hope your hands give you some respite soon Nelski.
Tough couple of days at work with one thing and another, need to get my head around things a bit. In between some difficult times there have been moments of laughter but we have no idea what goes on at home do we?
Luckily when I came home from work yesterday it was still light and I noticed a broken bottle in the road at the front of the drive, if it had been dark I would have driven right over it. Had to go out with a dustpan and brush and clear it all up. I had just put the bin out so it went straight into there.
Must do some housework when I get home later although with the vacuum only holding a charge for a couple of minutes it may be a very quick clean round! I contacted Dyson via their website, not sure if they are sending a new part or going to book for an engineer, we'll see.
Hope everyone is OK, have a good Thursday. Take care. XX11 -
Had a chilly walk to the loo, we're back to minus figures again.Having the woodburner on yesterday was bliss even if I had to move to the back of the room. I caught up with TV shows (😱 to 'know your own !!!!!!) and did a couple of online orders.Today I'll be much more productive as I'm taking my friends up to Oban for their weekly shopping. They'll probably have their new car next week so this may well be the last time. I'm always surprised at how much they buy each time, it's been very informative. On the decluttering thread I posted a photo of my late Dad's wee wooden box, now empty, of Yardley's shaving soap which I just can't throw away. I can still picture him lathering up his brush and the smell of it. Strange how such objects have the power to take us right back in time.Right, no more wittering. Great to see Ruby posting yesterday short but very sweet. Happy and healing thoughts to all our poorlies and missing.Happy Thursday to all.13

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.Bitterly cold with a heavy frost this morning, brrr,Ruby, it was great to see your post yesterday, I hope you soon feel better.Taff, thanks for giving us news about Nelski.Yesterday's plan of going to the shop in our high street that's closing down in the hope of finding something nice in the sale didn't happen. I had two very long phone calls from the sister of a friend who has been taken into hospital for a scan. Her health is poor, and looks to be getting worse. I'll hear more news this morning. After lunch I just nipped out and bought bread and eggs. Eggs are pricy, though I know it's because of the avian flu. I also went into The Works and got a couple of card making things that were reduced.Visiting an elderly friend today with some shopping, that's all that's planned anyway.Thinking of our poorly people, sorry to hear that your hands are so bad Nelski.Take care and keep warm if you can folks.12

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's still in the minus's for us and blooming heck it was cold in the kitchen when I got up. 9 deg.
It was good to hear from RUBY yesterday and also have news of NELS but sorry you are both still suffering. I hope the pain soon eases for both of you.
I had a good day out yesterday (Skipton again!) it was rather chilly so not much wandering was done. A few hardy stallholders had set up but didn't seem to be doing a lot of business. The sweetie man was there so I stocked up on a couple of bags for my sweetie tin. I spotted a new with tags cross body bag in Sense' window. Just the size I have been on the look out for as I can't get a lot in my current one. I got home about 5.30 to a power cut! Apparently it had been off since lunchtime so I was fortunate to have missed the worst of it! A Powergrid update said it was expected to be back on around 8 pm. The house was dark and so very cold as obviously the CH couldn't come on. I put the gas fire on, lit a lot of candles, snuggled under a throw and waited!! It came back on about 7.30 thank goodness.
No trips out today so it will be the usual clean of the kitchen and bathroom and probably not a lot else! I hope I get some GUAG when the weather improves as I seem to be permanently in the land of sloth these days.
Have a good day all if you can. Thinking of the poorlies, recovering or just fed up. Dp1 I hope your results are favourable."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all chilly here this morning with a thick frost I took some sleeping tablets last night as i have had a couple of rotten nights and to top it off i seem to have picked up a tummy bug just feeling sick in waves and then fine but the thought of food is not great it won't hurt to go without today and fingers crossed it passes soon . I need to go shopping but dont need too much so shouldn't be out for long .

Morning everyone
I'm another one who is wishing it would warm up a bit. We haven't had any more snow - it's just so cold and slippery!
Little one was delighted when I picked her up from nursery - I made us hot chocolate when we got in and then she set all her little wooden ice creams up on a tray and we played shops till teatime.
Good to hear news of Nelski and to hear from Redruby - hope your both feeling a lot better very soon.
I'm going to get the bus along to Asda as I need cat biscuits and a few bits - I'll have a wander and see if there's any bargains as I'll have half an hour to wait for the bus back again.
Then I'm in work at lunchtime.
Hope you all have a good day x12 -
Morning all
very cold here with a thick frost, I came down this morning to find that OH had lit the log burner which was bliss ! We are not putting the heating on atm as out bill was £400and we are very careful with everything, so we just have the log burner and put the electric blankets on at bed time for a while.
I managed to get out for a walk yesterday, twice around our small park which wiped me out for the rest of the day, gone (for now) are the five mile walks but I will build it up again.
Spag Bol for dinner tonight which I may cook this morning ready to re heat later I find I am tired by evening so dd finishes the cooking.
thank you all so much for the welcome back it’s nice to have been missed. I have been in touch with Nels who is struggling with her hands as Taff said, I will pass on your good wishes.
have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all, it's not quite as cold today and the snow had disappeared by lunchtime yesterday, think we've been lucky as lots of places nearby had lots of snow. We got on well yesterday so fingers crossed and with a fair wind the papering will be finished today. Then I'll start cleaning up and putting the furniture back. There are some other things that need DIY-ing but that will have to wait till sometime next week as tomorrow Mr Fix IT has his oncology review and then DGS is staying till Sunday. We enjoyed the xmas curry (curries are not just for xmas you know 😂) but it had become rather spicier after being frozen. Tea tonight will be a quick and easy bacon, sausage and egg etc.
Ruby lovely to see you posting, hope you have a speedy recovery and are pain free soon.
Nelski hope your poor little hands get better soon.
taff thanks for the the info on Nels. Hope you didn't fill up from the Sally army and are keeping it all for the famous Justin 🤨
Camelot I hope things are no too bad and resolve themselves quickly. Have a huge hug from me 🤗
Bella I hope your tummy settles down today.
Take care all, stay safe if you're going out. Hugs to the poorly ones and a big "hello" to all those MIA, seems NMLC has disappeared now too😔 Hope you are all ok.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning all,
WFH thanks goodness as it's mega-frosty outside on the hill!
Good to see you posting @Redruby2 - sorry about the laptop and see you have a new ID too.
Hope you feel better soon @bellabella x
Hoping you you had a better nights' sleep @snoozer x
Boo to the power cut @TravellingAbuela but at least you missed the worst of it. Whoohoo to the new to you bag purchase!
We have a new recipe tonight of creamy hidden-bean pasta using blitzed cannellini beans - will make it SW friendly. We had a fish recipe last night and DH purchased tinned artichokes from Ws despite me saying the international food shop in town might have them. He bought 2 tins plus some mint jelly for £6.50! He also tumble dried all the washing even though I'd asked him to hang on the airer as nothing was urgently needed. We will NEVER retire at this rate with him haemorraging funds.
Have a good day all and hugs to the poorlies and sad xx

Morning! would you believe it, it's sunny! I've informed OH I am decluttering again, he is aware of where I will be piling it all ready to take. He is unsurprisingly onboard...Got two loads of washing today so I will try to put them on the line, if not, they'll go on a horse by the fire, which I will light in a bit. Pie is gone and OH has asked for another one, I have mushrooms to use and we had chicken in the freezer so..but this will be normal short pastry not super suet...We are definitely eating all the pies. I mut commend my local council too. I made a compaint about a tree splitting in te morning and being a potential danger. They were out four hours later, chopped the offending limb off and off they went again... Great bit of service that.Gers, it's a lovely thing to keep in a bittersweet fashion. I wear my mothers cheapest ring for the story that came with it and I always see it dangling off her key ring whenever I look at it.Ruby, good to hear you're recovering well even if you don't think it's fast enough
nanny, happy decorating still . Curries are not just for Christmas :::snort:::: Scarlet, hope your decorating is over soon too, sorry about your friend..camelot, lucky escape! TA, it's like living, literally, in the Dark Ages isn't it...at least it didn't last too long while you were there. Topsy, your poor son, hope fully he's not in pain and he was very lucky there..Coxy, you make laugh about your DH...bella, get well soon. snoozer, naybe borrow some of bellas sleeping tablets...Right, I'm orf for more tea, have a good and warm day, hugs to the mia...
