Cant play MOV file

The micro sd card for my dash cam has some files coming up as;
This file isn’t playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt.0xc10100be
The file we need to watch is the actual RTC impact.showing who is at fault.
The dash cam is a next base 512GW and the sd card is a SanDisk 64GB High-Endurance Micro SD Card (SDXC) + Adapter - 20MB/s as recommended by Next Base and San Disk.
The video before and after the RTC is ok just the actual RTC footage.
I have tried to convert to MP4 via VLC but no joy.
I have tried to play the footage with just the memory card in the PC via the card adaptor
Is there anyway we can retrieve this footage? Thanks

I have a nextbase and got rear ended and retrieved the video
I was stopped behind another car when I was HIT but my car and dashcam was still running
Was yours or was it shutting down or starting up ?
I'm not a great believer that a dashcam can suddenly jump into action and record when its switched off and someone hits your car

The dash cam records when the car is moving or stopped as he had a bad RTC two weeks after he past his test in 2018 and he was hit head on by 2 idiots racing and it shows absolutely everything both front and back cams were recording at the time and shows one of the cars bouncing off a tree and coming to a stop across the road and this was in the rear cam footage.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
A very common issue, unfortunately, nobody notices until they actually need to view the footage. If it is material to the claim then it may be worth asking a specialist recovery company to see what they can do:

You could try the built in scandisk tool in Windows to see if it can correct anything, also PhotoRec

Main reason is just SD cards, their endurance isn't great and there are a lot of fake ones about.
However I'd take a good guess on this one that the Nextbase battery is knackered as they rarely last longer than the warranty and the interruption to the power feed during impact caused the camera to suddenly power off ending the video write prematurely and corrupting the file.

@[Deleted User] thanks for the links especially the data recovery in Cheadle.I have contacted San Disk and Next base also.Funny enough I think the battery is on its way out as my son said he wants a new dash cam.So after checking new models Halfords has a next base with a rear dash cam on offer saving £40 so just ordered that plus it comes with a next base branded memory card.
Thanks again.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
