Vodafone Router

Currently with BT for broadband but have been offered a cheaper deal with Vodafone. Worried about the quality of the WIFI signal with the Vodafone router.
I have a few Ring wireless cameras on the outside of the house which need a good signal.
Should the standard Vodafone router not be good enough, i have been thinking about either replacing the router with a TP Link AC2800 for around £150, or keeping the Vodafone router, switching off the wifi and connecting a TP Link AC1900 by ethernet cable to handle the WIFI.
The AC1900 would be a much cheaper option at around £40. But i just wondered if there would be any difference by spending the additional money replacing the router?
My son has an xbox and i have a fire tv cube which would be wired to the router. Ring cameras, phones etc would be WIFI

my Vodafone router is better than the BT Smart Hub2 that I had previously.

Certainly got greater wifi range (I can sit in my caravan on the drive and still get a 5GHz connection and sit in the garden) Likewise I've never had any problems with any of my stuff, unlike all the aggro I had with not being able to split 2.4 and 5Ghz channels with some old 2.4Ghz units.

It also reboots a lot faster than the BT hub which used to cause problems when we had power outages (of which we get quite a few)

Others may have a different experience but I'm more than happy with it. I can get 95+ Mbits all over our 140m2 bungalow and a bit less outside. I cant vouch for its performance between floors as we dont have an upstairs
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

ISP "free" routers are the pits, if you want to get your money's worth from your broadband then buy a decent wifi router and send your ISP one back or use in modem mode only. Or buy a separate modem.

Just got Virgin's newest Hub 5 with Wifi 6 with my 1 Gig upgrade, thought I'd give it a whirl but was immediately disappointed and put it into modem mode and continued with my 5 year old Asus Wifi 5 router which is twice as fast and has double the range distance wise.

Best the Virgin could do was about 260 Mbps yet my old Asus is knocking out 500mbps at the back of the house through a brick wall.

The Asus one did cost me £270 back then but is now approaching the £1 per week long-term cost so has been worth every penny.

Still on sale for £300 if you want one - 5 years after launch, I bet a free ISP one from 5 years ago wouldn't be any good nowadays.

I've still got the original box, in mint condition so easily sold for £100 on eBay to fund my upgrade this year to the GT-AX11000 - good routers aren't a waste of money.

I found vodafone router was lacking at opposite saide of house.  Fitted a 3 node Velop mesh system and now have full speed down to end of garden.  Easy to set up and has the benefit that if we change ISP only the ethernet cable needs swapping over.  No need to reset all wifi identifiers and passwords.  Additionally gives you the option of a separate guest wifi.

I switched from BT to Vodafone and reckon their router’s wifi range is better than BT’s. Due to 2’ thick stone walls, I use a second one (£10 from Ebay) to extend the signal to the other side of the house.

They also have a separate Guest mode if you enable it in the advanced settings
