Following advice from this post ( I wasn't sure if I should make a new post or not)
Rental increase over the LHA DHP information — MoneySavingExpert Forum
Basically we were going to apply for PIP for my partner
I have Contrib based ESA support group £117.60
DLA high care low mob £ 467.40
My partner has IS £49.55 per week
CA £69.70 per week Thanks
Also Housing Benefit
I was looking at the PIP info and it stated when you phone up they wanted dates as to when the person was in hospital etc (Which would have been over 28 days)
During the commotion very early last year when my partner got ill, Heart attack and Urgent Open Heart Surgery....then his chemo. I was not aware we may have to inform someone he was temporary in hospital
What benefits would have been affected ( obviously if they need paying back, that is fine. This was just an oversight due the scenario)
I just want to be aware when we phone up PIP for an application form what to expect
Thanks

After 28 days in hospital PIP payments should be suspended.

However as your partner was not in receipt of PIP at that point, that is not relevant.
I think the question is asked on the form, in case it affects the date / periods for which PIP can be paid.
For CA the period is 12 weeks:
https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Going-into-Hospital-and-benefits/Carer-s-Allowance#:~:text=Carer's Allowance will stop being, before you go into hospital.
I don't think your partner's other benefits will be affected, but you could check (IS when in hospital) on the disability rights site (currently down for maintenance)Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.1 -
The one I was concerned about was receiving CA while the carer themselves is in hospital because I couldn't remember the rules. It appears she is OK if she was in hospital for less than 12 weeks.
See
https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Going-into-Hospital-and-benefits/Carer-s-Allowance
and
https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/further-informationYou must tell DWP if you temporarily stop providing care and:- you or the person you care for will be in hospital, a nursing home, or respite care for more than 12 weeks
- you stop caring for more than 28 days for any other reason
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
Many thanks for the info. It was 9 weeks I think in total. I will check about the IS when the website is up and running again. I thank you a lot for the this, as I was a bit worried about applying for the PIP, and wanted to have all my facts straight and what to expect if anything were to happen regarding the hospital inpatient statusAlice_Holt said:After 28 days in hospital PIP payments should be suspended.

@calcotti Many thanks for the info. It was 9 weeks my partner was in hospital for, he is the one who cares for me as such. I was seeing him everyday whilst on hospital Once again I appreciate your time and answer0

Provided the CA is payable then I can't see any reason for the IS to be affected. Thy are (presumably) getting IS because they are a carer and if still entitled to CA are entitled to IS
https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Income-Support/Who-can-get-Income-Support
Had the CA entitlement stopped I think the IS entitlement would have stopped to.
Be aware that it appears from the turn2us link that if they went into hospital again within six months they only have three weeks left. However I've very rarely dealt with IS so have no experience of this - if I have time I'll look through the guidance but won't be doing that today.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. @calcotti Many thanks for that. Ive just seen this today. Again I appreciate your time. Yes they are getting the IS as he has CA .Thats great info about if he goes in again as well. Cheers0
