Dual insurance vehicle previous owner

I purchased a car, insured it fully comprehensive. It was destroyed by arsenal attack (other vehicles too in my town second time too), my insurer tells me the previous owner is also insured as he forgot to cancel. What is my best route of action now? 50% from each insurance company?

Those Arsenal fans are right hooligans!I would suggest the best course of action for you is to take advice from your insurance company. It often gets messy in situations such as this where a previous owner forgets to cancel their insurance. Really, as far as you're concerned, you claim off your insurance, then it's down to them whether they want to try and recover some or all of their losses from the other company.0

Agree with Ebe, it is going to be a claim on your policy anyway, so let your insurer fight with the other insurer privately if they want to. It isn't your role to decide who should pay. You took out insurance to cover you, if your insurer feels they should fight the cost then let them fight it themselves.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
