Forgot to ask for new permit

I rent my parking space from another tenant in a private rented block of flats. I didn't realise my permit expired in Nov and received a ticket on my window in Jan (this had no info of the parking charge, just info for the company). I now have the right permit that is valid from Nov before the ticket is dated, do I have grounds to appeal?
I still haven't received a letter from the parking company but I called them and they say they have sent a letter last week

Which parking company? Do you still have the ticket they applied to your windscreen? Can we see a copy please - just cover any identifying detail like your vehicle registration number? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

It's VCS. I don't have a picture of the other side but it just had the date on it. I've still got the ticket but not with me at the moment0

That's not a parking charge.
Have you received a PCN in the post? Is your V5C showing your current postal address?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Appeals do not work. It is a farce.
Get the Managing Agents to cancel it immediately.
Remind them that they can cancel a % of PCNs under the standard VCS contract and if it costs them a tenner to cancel it, then offer to pay that to the MA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
