Hi, yes a few issues with installer tbh, still haven’t had my paperwork 8 months on. I think they grew too big too quickly and can’t keep up. I have 16 400w panels (6.4kW system) with 2x 5.2kW batteries. Drive Tesla so night time charging is important to me. I was checking out the Octopus Flux tariff, and although the pay back is decent I am reluctant to give up my night rate @7.5p with octopus Go. I also hate donating all the electricity to the grid, couple days ago batteries were full and I gave back 22kW!0

Do you know if they are registered though- it’s tricky to get paid to export if they’re not. Do they show up if you search for them here? https://mcscertified.com/find-an-installer/Hopefully other regulars will pick up this thread soon and be able to offer more advice.Smart Tech Specialist with Octopus Energy Services (all views my own). 4.44kW SW Facing in-roof array with 3.6kW Givenergy Gen 2 Hybrid inverter and 9.5kWh Givenergy battery. 9kW Panasonic Aquarea L (R290) ASHP. #gasfree since July ‘230

I know what you mean, i try to use every bit of generation myself.0 -
Can’t find them on that list, I did check. I messaged them again and they promised to pay back for all electricity generated since we had the system put in, blamed IT issues. I will believe it when I see it. I did a bit more research and Octopus doesn’t allow you to take advantage of the best export rates if you are on Octopus Go tariff. Doesn’t mean I can’t go to the next best supplier. So literally just waiting for the certificate.
on charging Tesla from solar, sadly that’s not working for me. The car wants to grab too much leccy and charging either stops or it starts grabbing it from the grid, which defeats the purpose. I can only charge at nighttime when solar isn’t generating anything. Waiting for specialist electrician that understands solar and EV charging.0 -
I think most suppliers will want an MCS certificate (some will also accept flexi-orb or similar) before you can get paid. For Octopus it’s mandatory and Scottish Power (the next best paying for non-import customers @ 12-15p) it’s that or something similar like Flexiorb. All the other suppliers are still paying a lot less for export unfortunately. If your installer isn’t appropriately registered then blaming IT issues isn’t going to help them produce one for you. Scottish Power apparently have something in their T&C’s that suggests they don’t accept ‘brown’ electricity I.e from a battery on their new export tariff but it needs clarifying- just something I spotted on another forum. You can also change octopus tariffs once a month so something like Flux for the generating months and GO+basic seg rate from Octopus over the winter could work but not if you can’t persuade Octopus over the certification.Smart Tech Specialist with Octopus Energy Services (all views my own). 4.44kW SW Facing in-roof array with 3.6kW Givenergy Gen 2 Hybrid inverter and 9.5kWh Givenergy battery. 9kW Panasonic Aquarea L (R290) ASHP. #gasfree since July ‘230

just plug the car into a 13 amp socket and then it will only draw 3kw max?0

I was with Scottish Power when our system was installed Mar 22 and rang them to ask about SEG. They gave me the "brown energy" excuse and said they wouldn't pay me for export because it's a hybrid inverter and I might send dirty grid energy back to them.
I set the export up with Octopus when the MSC came through and switched my gas and electricity supply too.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Can't put my finger on it right now, but someone linked the exact T&C wording in another thread recently. It does complicate things. My installer weren't on the MCS list when I booked it due to a dispute they were having with HIES. I actually canceled the install over it, but they got it resolved and were reinstated so I withdrew the cancellation, and in the end all the paperwork went through smoothly.Apart from the fact Octopus still seem to be having a bit of trouble issuing statements/bills with the export on (fingers crossed their twitter team will fix it now).3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
