in Cutting tax
Hi Folks,
I have recently moved jobs within my current company and purchased a small apartment to be near my new work location. Due family circumstances, I am not able to relocate fully. Does anyone know if any of my ongoing expenses both for property and travel can be claimed in my tax return? I am a PAYE employee.

There is no tax relief available if you choose to buy a second home to reduce commuting. In addition, you can only have one main residence for tax purposes, so you will need to choose within two years of buying the second property which of your two houses you wish to nominate as your main residence.1
