  • As stated, once a bid has been made the Buy it Now option is no longer available.

But in all fairness, he knew when the auction was to finish, so it was upto him to pay as soon as after the auction finished. Plus on a saturday in most areas the PO is only open half day.

So personaly i wouldnt refund, but if the ticket is returned by royal mail, then you will have to. Yes you could resend it back but the postal date will be on the envelope.

And yes technicly saturday is not a working day, but in this day & age, it doesnt count.

  • i would say pay up and learn by your mistakes rather than get a bad rating. your both at fault on this one. you could have put it on a shorter listing to because the expiry is so close and the xmas post is always slow. also the £3 charge for posting recorded 1st class is excessive as it would be about £1 to send so if next day del was within that price range you could have sent it that way.
    • I came, I saw, I conquered :j
  • I would not refund it's not your fault he took so long to pay you.

It probably should have gone out special delivery but I doubt he would have wanted to pay that much.

I have stopped all my listings on ebay as recorded delivery is taking 10+ days on some occassions which is beyond a joke.

The post office never ceases to amaze me, if we send 50,000 items sepcial delivery they will probably get there in less than a week but send 50,000 items by regular post or recorded and all of a sudden there's a huge backlog which takes weeks to sort out.

If he'd paid on Friday evening would you have managed to post it on Saturday morning before 10.30am?

  • 12 hours to pay is not a long time! I often have to wait 2 - 3 days for payment, even by paypal. Special delivery would be £4.30 for a letter so not much over the £3 you charged for recorded.
In defence of the post office - everything I posted yesterday has arrived today and 2 items I paid for on Monday have arrived this morning!
  • the buyer was the first bidder on the auction so he knew there was a BIN price on the listing. I should have put it on special delivery price for postage but never thought about it. I did highligh that the ticket expires 23.l2.07, the auction finished 9.00 friday 14.12.07, he did not pay until 15.12.07 at 10.30 am and he knew that the timing of the end of the auction and his payment was leaving it even shorter.

i have bought items myself with an expiry date on and knew the tight timing of the arrival of the item. some i have been able to use, some i have not been able to use, I take the risk and hope i get the item in time. He knew the risk so i am not happy about a refund. will wait and see what transpires!

should i contact paypal and advise them of a possible problem with this?

You had 10 bids on your auction and your buyer did not bid first
