Got a lenovo from work, it gets throw around, the battery lasts ages and does everything I need work wise. At home I bought a HP, the battery is dead after just over 2 years of use (swelling up doesn't charge anymore) and every now and then it crashes for no reason, reinstalled still does it. Next time I spend my money it will be a Lenovo

Its not the first time I have heard a HP horror story as above "with consumer model laptops ".
Years ago the printers were made to fail after a period of time .
Alot to be said regarding a a refurb option such as Lenovo0 -
If you can use a chromebook for the school work you could consider using a older S/H Windows or Mac laptop and running ChromeOS Flex. This will give you a virtually new laptop at a fraction of the cost of a new Win or MacSee this link for more info https://www.androidpolice.com/chrome-os-flex-what-it-is-and-why-you-should-use-it/For a list of compatible older laptops see this link https://support.google.com/chromeosflex/answer/11513094?hl=enI purchased a S/H windows Asus Flip (£100) and installed ChromeoS Flex and it goes just fine save around £350-£500 against a new windows flip0

Do you expect people to take you seriously when you buy a second hand Windows laptop, install a far less capable operating system, one like a Chromebook of old and I mean old(no Android or Linux application support) and then claim that you have saved £350 to £500
New Windows Flip? You have a old Chromebook Flip now. No comparison at all.
You could have just bought an old Chromebook in the first place, for £50 or less.
For £500 you would get something completely different
Likely the old Flip can run Windows 10 fine anyway.
