Sorry, this is nothing to do with ebay.
I got a RM card through my letterbox telling me that someone had sent me a letter without the correct postage, and asking for £2.50. I have no idea what the item is, or even whether I want it at all. My inclination is just to bin the card and let RM return the item, but I would be interested whether I can see what it is before deciding?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If you go to the sorting office you can examine the outside of the package before deciding if you want to pay the fine. You could also probably arrange redelivery and decide whether you want to pay the postie when you see it. You can also pay the fine in stamps if you wish.3

Worth checking if you can easily nip down to the delivery office. If you recognise the sender, then you can decide whether to tackle them about the surcharge. I have read of cases where people were using up very old stamps before the 31st Jan cutoff and RM were incorrectly flagging them as used or invalid. That could be a reason - or the sender could have used fake stamps unknowingly (if they bought cheaply on eBay).I need to think of something new here...1
