I have a smart meter but its not sending the reads to Bulb my supplier so I have to read it myself. I wondered if there is anyone out there that can confirm to me if I'm reading my Liberty 100 Electric Meter manufactured by secure correctly. I have been told to press 6 to get the read but when i look at the instructions this is for a 2 rate meter but my supplier Bulb are telling me it is only a single rate meter where you would normally press 9, however if I do this the read is nowhere in line with their reads prior to me moving in a couple of months ago.. There are 2 reads but the second read is not changing.
Has anyone else had the same issue Bulb are refusing to send anyone out to double check the read to ensure I am reading this correctly and with prices being Sky High at the moment i want to make sure I am reading it right. I even sent them a video of the meter and they are insistent i press 6. Thanks in advance for any advice

What does the abbreviated letters say after the numbers - kWh.kVAh, kVARh etc after you have pressed 6 or 9
The ones I had needed to press 9 onceNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Nightmare meters
As meter readers for many suppliers, including Bulb, we are told to press 9 and take the IMP KWH reading on a single rate meter (except when we used to read for Utility Warehouse who wanted us to take the R1 from 6 four times)
For two rates we would press 6 four times and then maybe 9 again, and sometimes they don't even show the rates then
Confusion reigns
If I were you, and the reads from pressing 6 four times are in line with previous, then I would continue to give them that read.
The problem then will come if and when a meter reader turns up and takes the read from button 91 -

Hi @EmmaBl1970
I had a Electricity Liberty 100 meter until Dec. last year when it was swapped out for a SMETS2 meter. I was only ever on a single rate tariff and had always been told to press 9 and to give the Total Imp kwh - if I pressed 6 then the readings would circulate through registers and I had kwh on register R01 which changed, and some kwh against register R02 which didn't increase. The sum of R01 and R02 equalled the total kwH. Pressing 9 to supply a manual read all worked fine until I was switched under SOLR to BG and I assume the Liberty 100 meter was subsequently enrolled/adopted to DCC.
Whereupon my reading didn't line up with BG's reading that they got from somewhere - never explained where from.
I put through BG's complaint process and it resulted in a meter swap out.
It was never explained to me why there was this discrepancy. When the meter engineer came out and swopped out my meter for the SMETS2, I confirmed with him that pressing 9 (single rate tariff) on the Liberty 100 was correct.
Hope this helps.
