Wickes kitchen

Just after some advice really we are looking to have a kitchen designed and fitted by Wickes. It’s just a normal galley kitchen with maybe 19units to replace , only appliance we are having new are gas hob to electric oven and combi oven above. Electric hob to gas and new hood . New flooring and new wall tiles and a boiling tap. Also ripping out units in hallway and replacing them three units flooring in hallway and some tiles as we have to dogs and they make the walls filthy so I need wipe clean . We have a ball figure in mind of 10k to do the lot but we are not sure if this will be enough now Wickes do have a half price sale on . There is no building work included just basically like for like as in layout . We have heard different stories from friends if this will be enough or not . We go Saturday to sit down and see the designs and get the price but I’m really not sure if 10k will cover it all. Advice please

  • Dont just go to Wickes go to multiple kitchen showrooms and get quotes to compare. Even better, go to a local independent outfit

I agree with the suggestion to shop around. None the less I'd be amazed if you had all that work done for £10k even if you went for the most budget range units and appliances you could. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was double that.

Ultimately though you won't know until you get some quotes but be prepared to be quite shocked as to the cost.
  • I got my last kitchen from Wickes and my kitchen was a bit smaller that your kitchen sounds.

I had approx 14 double cabinets, an oven tower and oven, hob, extractor, sink, tap, end panels and worktop which came to around £7000, and this was the basic shaker range.

That was in early 2019, and prices have gone up a lot since then. I’d say it was very unlikely you’d get all of what you need above, including flooring etc for £10k

We will defo shop around thank you for the advice . I’m hoping it’s not double as we won’t bother . There is no building work involved so can’t see why it will cost 20k . My friend had her kitchen by Wickes and she had a wall knocked through and a ceiling replaced and integrated appliances also four years ago and that cost her 7.5 k in the half price sale at Wickes in which they also have now . But yes we will defo shop around if the price is not right for us

You should defo shop around if the price is right for you or not,

You should always get several quotes and ask to see where work has been carried out and by who.

Thank you 😊 it’s hard to judge it really is. We have no end panels and a lot of our cabinets aren’t double . We have 12 double and 3 single and one double one that hides the boiler and a single for the bin and a cupboard is being made where the wine rack is as we don’t use the wine rack

Will depend massively on the style of kitchen you want, the ranges differ greatly in price. They always have a sale on something but its never the full kitchen, At the moment its just off the units.
Maybe worth trying an independent fitter as well.
  • Go to Howdens and Wickes as well, just bear in mind everyone is selling. 10k is more than enough for the units, the issue is extras like white goods, sink, labour for installation, plumber, and counter top choice impacts price.

I had 12 units replaced and the fitting quote alone from Wickes was £3.5k. That didn't include ripping the old ones out, new flooring, tiling etc

This won't get you to £10k but If you can take out the old kitchen, you will save money and if it's in ok condition, usually you can sell it to save taking it to the dump

Ikea is usually v reasonable but they don't do all cupboard sizes so like for like may not be possible

Also worth getting quotes from a couple of local independent kitchen specialists - Had one quote substantially less than the likes of Magnet/Howdens.

If your carcasses are in good condition, an alternative might just be new door/draw fronts plus worktop - That only works if you are happy with the current layout though.
