  • I'm just looking at this and they want your NI number. Is this normal to ask for that?

oooh, just spotted this one, have signed up and deposited £50.01 (so that's another £1.98 into the Natwest digital saver). Given that I did the rounds with bank switching a few years back, there are few incentives out there I'm eligible for. I've even taken to dabbling with cheap life insurance policies on TCB. Clearly it's the thrill of the chase for me as I shouldn't really be that bothered over £50  :D

BTW that reminds me, anyone know what happened to Colsten, the font of all knowledge for switching? Another great purge perhaps?

Yes, it's a normal thing for stockbrokers to ask.
  • FWIW I intend to invest in ERNS, a shorter duration alternative to QUID. DYOR and all that.

I'm onboard/in the know on Wealthify 50-50/CMC 50-50/Nutmeg 100-1000. Is the TCB £30 for InvestEngine the best offer? Are there any other 'easy' incentives around that don't require transfering ISAs/SIPPs?

Looks to be, the current RAF offer is £10-50 each, so having a guaranteed £30 for you is middles.

The only others I can think of is Wombat, 212 and Freetrade that all do RAF offers of a free share/ £10-£100.

Also wealthify do a refer a friend offer and sometimes have sign up offers where they'll give you £50 if you invest £50 for a year.
  • I don't know about anyone else but I can't seem to even create an account in the app. Whenever I click the create account button in the app I get taken to a message telling me how I can help them improve their app experience. There appears to be no buttons to press or any way of scrolling the page or anything.

    So far so good...
I'm in. For some peculiar reason it has just decided to work. £50.01 has now been deposited by debit card. Very quick account opening once they decided to install a scroll bar.

My application went through quickly and simply. However, my wife went to do one and she says it would 'be in touch after checking some details' or something like that. I didn't supervise her application so she might have done something wrong!!

Anyone else had to wait for their application to be approved?

Had same this morning with Mrs Z-man, app says they'll be in touch after some checks.

Does seem a bit odd, I opened an account in January and was approved straightaway.

Just been looking at the reviews for the CMC Invest app on Playstore and noticed this five star review from an apparently delighted customer whose name I'd seen before:

    david fineburg  14/12/2022
Just transferred my shares from Hargreaves Lansdown to CMC. Excellent customer service, seemless (sic) transfer and very quick. They kept me informed of the progress throughout. James H was a massive help.”

    CMC Reply

    “CMC Markets 20/12/2022
Thanks for the fantastic feedback and five stars David! We’ll pass on your kind words to James on our transfer team. We hope you continue to love the app and we’re looking forward to rolling out even more features for you.”

So could it be this be the David John Fineburg, listed on the FCA website as an “Executive Director of CMC Markets Investments Limited”, under “Individuals currently and previously involved in regulated activities at this firm”. https://register.fca.org.uk/s/firm?id=0014G00002e0k2oQAA

If so, it would be worrying to see the director of an investment company dodgy enough to post phoney reviews but not smart enough to have someone else post it.  Reviews of the app below his are less complimentary.
