Welcome and you sound like you have a lot on your plate. The hoarding sounds awful. My husband is a bit of one but it is limited to the garage where he has a workshop and one of the bedrooms which he uses as a hobby room. He does mostly use the stuff eventually though so technically I guess it is not hoarding. Can it be limited to certain rooms so as not to encroach on family living space?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Yay on the vape stuff and cafetiere, a list is a great idea (love a list) that way when you are in despair you can look at it and remind yourself how far you've come
I'm sure you will find a way with the electrician.....have you tried vinted, I found it really goodDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Hello - thanks for visiting.Hoarding - have literally tried everything I can to tackle the problem over the years but there is very kittle compromise. We have two bedrooms full, a beautiful attic room which is completely full, so is our main attic and one living room. Kitchen is also full of stuff we will never use. 😤
We have a terraced house and no space for a shed so everything gets stored mainly indoors 🥺 still, I'm working on adding to the list ( get rid of one item a day ) just have to make sure more goes out than comes in !0 -
When we moved into the van everyone was....omg how will you cope living in a small space, little did they realise we were already living in that reduced space from clutter 🤣🤣🤣

Morning peeps, hope everyone had a lovely debt busting weekend.Mine was very productive. 15 items on the list (clutter clear out ) 2 items listed for sale on Vin**d, 3 items donated and the highlight of the weekend : a boot full of garden rubbish taken to the tip! So exciting. The last bit did cause some drama. DP woke up and came out to check out the items and demanded I open the car as he *suspects* I've been taking his stuff. He did drag one or two items back in but overall a success. He is very unwell but the behaviour is so ingrained!
Have decided to transfer an amount to the mortgage savings for every item I donate, give away or sell based on what I think its worth second hand. This will give me some incentive I think. I opened an account to sell old dvds on CE* who have opened a shop by me. They offered the grand total of 1p for each dvd - I would rather donate them to charity shop.
Very cold here again today - need to get motivated for work. Would be lovely to hibernate for the winter- my tortoise has the right idea 😉0 -
That's a great idea 💡 on mortgage savings.
As for dvds, dreadful isn't it, we have about 600 in the lock up, saved and large storage bags bought so we could bring them here to watch, ended up buying a smart TV 🤦♀️ so much money wastedDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Where has the week gone! It's flew by.Been bit rough this week but battled through. Actually did covid test but was negative 🫣 very thankful. Feel much better today.Debt busting nothing to report - waiting for payday so I can pay off some of the cc. Have juggled my funds around and have the electrician bill money tucked aside. Also need to factor in a skip at some stage as DS been busy hacking down walls and rendering/plastering. He has a mate who is a plasterer who helps out and they have done a lovely job I must say.Hoarding - had some success. Found bag of coins dating back to Victoria's reign. Seems some may be worth a couple of quid. DSis is going to clean them up and take them to a local coin specialist. Lots of peeps selling the same coins on e*ay but varying amounts, all a bit confusing.
Still on track with the 1 item a day, the list makes for very interesting reading. You couldn't make it up and some of the items are hard to describe.
My darling DG has been so funny this week, she literally makes me laugh every day. She told me she loved one of her nursery friends. Wanted her to be more socialised but she may have taken it a bit further 🫣0 -
Hello everyone
I haven't posted for a while. Sadly my partner passed away in February, he had been ill for a while, and whilst expected, it came quickly at the end and was just dreadful.
It's all been bit of a blur, but clearing out has given me purpose and helped me to focus. It comes with mixed feelings as he loved his stuff, and made me promise not to get a skip - I have honoured that promise and have been thoughtful and have donated and repurposed most of it.
Am 80% through the clear-out. It's been brutal and a lot of hard work. I've met some lovely people who came to collect the stuff - lots of them had lovely stories and were so grateful 🙏 the house has taken on a new energy, and I'm determined to make it a Palace 🕍.
I've been surrounded by my amazing friends and family - they stepped in and took control when I was at my lowest - I am so grateful and blessed.

Hi there
So sorry about your partner, it must have been awful for you all.
Well done on achieving so much and it must help so much to be able to donate his stuff to people who will be able to use it xx
Hope your DG is doing well too, she sounds a little ray of sunshine 🙂Make £10 a day 2024
