WE arrived off holiday 28th December when the clutch went on the car stranded 100 miles from home no problem as we thought covered by RAC for breakdown and tow Guy arrived 1 hour later and confirmed problem tow home was included so we waited We are 2 people with medical conditions age 74 and 71 We waited 7 hours for tow truck after numerous calls were asked if we could get to train station yes with 4 cases ha ha we begged them to get us home because my husband needed his medication we had only took enough for our 10 day holiday but all we kept getting was call centre staff in the end I phoned a relative who travelled over 40 miles to pick us up and take us home The car arrived back January 1st so then had to wait for garage to open after the Christmas break TO book it in during this time we had to rely on taxis for shopping and a hospital appointment The RAC have got to be the worst recovery organisation there policy is vunrable people far away from home get priority what a laugh

Sorry about that but imo they are the best. I guess it was a very busy time but that does not help you
Thanks for sharing, very helpful

Why is the bit about taxis and waiting to book the car in relevant to the RAC?
They offered a solution of trains as by the sounds of it they were extremely busy which was declined. Did you ask them about a taxi?
IMO 40 miles isn't that far. If you really want, try and claim the car fuel/wear and tear for the driver who picked you up, from RAC?
If this is just a rant this should be in the praise and vents board.FTB - April 20200 -
When the RAC guy came out and confirmed the problem what was the reason/excuse he gave for not towing you home?0

if the RAC had towed you home would the car hve been repaired any earlier, considering how near the holiday period it was?0
