RAC

WE arrived off holiday 28th  December  when the clutch went on the car  stranded 100 miles from home   no problem as we thought  covered by RAC for breakdown and tow  Guy arrived 1 hour later and confirmed problem  tow home was included  so we waited  We are  2 people with medical conditions age 74 and 71 We waited 7 hours for tow truck  after numerous calls  were asked if we could get to train station yes  with 4 cases ha ha we begged them  to get us home  because my husband needed  his medication we had only took enough for our  10 day holiday but all we kept getting was call centre staff in the end  I phoned  a relative  who travelled over 40 miles to pick us up  and take us home   The car arrived back January 1st so then had to wait  for garage to open after the  Christmas break TO book it in  during this time we had to rely on taxis  for shopping and a hospital appointment  The RAC  have got to be the worst recovery  organisation there policy is vunrable  people far away from home get  priority  what a laugh

    Sorry about that but  imo they are the best. I guess it was a very busy time but that does not help you

    Why is the bit about taxis and waiting to book the car in relevant to the RAC? 

    They offered a solution of trains as by the sounds of it they were extremely busy which was declined. Did you ask them about a taxi?
    IMO 40 miles isn't that far. If you really want, try and claim the car fuel/wear and tear for the driver who picked you up, from RAC?

    If this is just a rant this should be in the praise and vents board.

  • When the RAC guy came out and confirmed the problem what was the reason/excuse he gave for not towing you home?

    if the RAC had towed you home would the car hve been repaired any earlier, considering how near the holiday period it was?

    What would your husband have done for medication if you'd been delayed travelling back to the UK? Sorry that's bad planning and it's not the RAC's fault your chosen garage closed for Christmas.
