And unless he can point to the source of his claim about "industry standards", I'd treat it as utter rubbish. I strongly suspect that "industry standards" just means whatever he considers acceptable to try and palm off to people.

So what are my options, send them all back which will probably cost the same amount as their postage (£68.00)? Kind of pointless.
Ask for them to replace them, they will with me covering postage.

What happens when you claim do they go to the retailer and push for this?0 -
IIRC each item has to be over £100 for section 75, OP did you purchase x square metre or x number of tiles.
@born_again might confirm whether buying 12 tiles at e,g £10 each is an order for £120 or 12 separate for £10 in terms of section 75.
OP the goods do not conform to the contract as they must be free of minor defects. You may within the first 30 days reject them for a refund, if it was agreed (e.g by way of terms) that you would return goods then you have a duty to do so but the trader must cover the cost. If you didn't agree they must collect.
The trader must refund within 14 days of agreeing you are due a refund (I know they don't agree but personally I think this is meant to mean from when they should agree if it's obvious the goods do not conform).
If they refuse then send a letter before action.
If you are covered by section 75 then this might be the easiest option, where applicable the card provider has equal liability and must provide you with the remedies available via the Consumer Rights Act.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

On the order form it just states x number of metres of said tile as a one off, rather than listing each individual tile, if that helps?
