  • Unfortunately, the UK has very poor financial education. There are lots of people out there who just scared of stock markets. Even normal, easy investing like stock market index funds.

That's why so many people get caught up in these stupid sorts of investment - whether it be P2P lending, airport car parks, holiday homes or all the other stupid types of investment people make and end up losing all of their money.

Which makes sense as I'd imagine any Dragon would have done a good amount of due diligence here.
AIUI, the due diligence is done after deals are made on the show, and that about 50% do not actually progress any further.
Very true, but the shows are recorded in advance, so I'd have thought that the DD would already be well underway if not completed by now
I recall reading somewhere that there’s only something like half of the Dragons offers actually materialise once due diligence has been carried out.
  • Where can I watch the pitch?
  • Where can I watch the pitch?

Best guess? On the BBC iPlayer.

I think there is some basic DD done beforehand by the production company and then more indepth by the relevant "dragon" if a deal is done.

The deals can fall apart post the show for reasons beyond DD too... I've heard of at least one case of sellers remorse where they decided after accepting on the show that actually the equity requirements were too high so pulled out.

  • At the pitch the guy did say that he wanted to bring his IT person along but that he was to nervous to attend. Had he been there I assume he would have made a better job of answering some of the questions.
