Is it possible to book a flight when I have an expired passport?
Planning to book a flight to Sydney departing beginning of March with KLM and would like to take advantage of the price now.

Yes it's entirely possible to book a flight without a passport. Airlines will generally need passport and other API information before check-in, but it's not mandatory at booking.
Keep in mind that it is your responsibility alone to ensure you meet entry requirements and have the correct documentation. If there's any problem with your application, or your passport doesn't arrive in time then nobody will refund you for any lost flight costs.1 -
You can book having never held a passport but cannot hold the airline or your insurer liable if your passport doesn't turn up in time.1

Would strongly advise that you get your application now. The prices are going up on 2nd February so 5here will be a surge in applications being submitted. It’s also expected that the volume of applications this year will be similar to last year.0
