Strange delivery - How to sort out?

So had a parcel delivered today while I was out, no problem, card through the door, what I'd ordered, all OK - BUT
The courier also left a second package. My address, but the name was just a given name (no surname).
No one with that name is, or has been living at my address. The package appears to have some sort of bag inside (guessing from the feel, I haven't yet opened it).
I can try and speak to a human at the courier's, but their systems aren't geared up to that. Should I open the package to see if there are some sort of delivery details inside? It doesn't feel right, but preumably the fault isn't really with the courier in this case.

The courier has delivered as instructed. They will have little interest in helping out and trying to get them interested will only raise your stress levels. I would open it up and try to solve the puzzle yourself. Does it look like a business sender or private ?

There is no business address on the package label Molerat, so I guess its probably private. It may be an ebay package, or perhaps someone took it to one of the drop-off points, and the postcode was mis-heard.I'll have a look inside tomorrow, in the hope they have put in some sort of sender identification.0

Any return address etc on the package?
If not I would carefully and neatly open it to see if there is a packing slip or anything inside.0 -
Could also be a scam - somebody 'returning' an item to a deliberately wrong address so the seller never gets it back, but has to refund because it shows as delivered. You might get someone coming to collect it.
Probably best to open it, and then if there's any eBay details (or any other marketplace) you can contact the seller.0 -
Ok Im just gonna ask what everyone else is thinking.......so what was inside?!!!!1

So, package opened - its some sort of bean bag for anglers. No packing slip inside, so I carefully slit the tape round the label, and hey presto there was one behind the address.Luckily its for an address further up our road, so it looks like my guess that there was a misunderstanding at the drop-off was correct. I'll walk it along later today when someone's likely to be in.Thanks for all the comments.3
